The Pre-Woke Truth About Gays in the Movies 1960-1990
Reevaluating Cinema that Defined and Exploited Homosexuality
I’m excited to announce my new series, The Pre-Woke Truth About Gays in the Movies 1960-1990, an ongoing review and commentary on gay cinema that I will be posting to Substack every week! AND… you don’t have to be gay or a cinephile to enjoy these tangy and sometimes brutally opinionated reviews that counter and destroy woke ideology.
Many of the reviews will consider the significance of the release date, real world sentiment or my own personal experiences. The films under review will highlight the spectrum of perversity and crime perpetrated by gay characters as seen in cinema during the years 1960-1990.
Accelerating acceptance of gays in the 1960s coincides with the wild cinematic exploitation of gay themes that persisted throughout the ‘70s, but by the '80s, the gay theme was becoming a ripened vehicle for propaganda, which as we see, has evolved into a tool for indoctrination and socialism, no longer a sacred subculture or even something that we are allowed to laugh at.
Reviews of classics like The Music Lovers and mainstream offerings like Tootsie will be posted alongside more obscure titles like Dinah East and Love Me Deadly. There will be NO PAYWALL, but there WILL BE SPOILERS.
Shorter capsule reviews will also be posted at various times during the week. These reviews will eventually become issue #4 of Victims of Cinema, and/or a book if a publisher is interested.
If you have any suggestions of obscure film titles or tv show episodes (up to the 1990s) with gay themes or characters, drop me a line or leave a message in the comments. Also, if you have a review request, drop that in the comments as well.
Lastly, HELP!
If you enjoy this series, please consider subscribing, sharing or posting links to your social media. This is part of my post-cancellation build back better tour!
